A friend and I will be returning from a trip to Sicily. Our return flight begins with an 0600 flight from Palermo. A hotel close to airport would be the best option night before leaving. Any recommendations? Should we plan to leave for airport at 0300? Are there any options at the airport itself?

This will likely be a flight from Palermo within somewhere Europe, correct? Since that is the case, an arrival hour and a half prior to your flight would be more than plenty. Palermo is a really small airport.

jammun47, I have no recommendation, but just a note that if you end up searching on TripAdivsor or wherever, the airport is located in an area called Punta Raisa. It might be easier to search that way. Its a fairly long drive from Palermo.

If you stay downtown Palermo leave the hotel by 4am at the latest. At that time, with no traffic, a taxi should get to the airport in about 30-35 min. That way you get there at least 75 min prior to departure, which is adequate for a European flight.
