Palermo airport

Flying into Palermo in a couple of weeks. Would anyone know what the average cost of a taxi from Falc/Bors airport into Palermo (via Roma) would be? Also, would there be an easier and/or cheaper train connection? Thanks

Not sure about taxi fare and I don't think there is a train, but the bus runs between the airport and the train station about once every hour (sometimes every half-hour) and I believe was 6.10 euro per person, buy your ticket from the driver. The train station is at the 'bottom' of Via Roma, so an easy walk as long as you can get across the street without being run down!

The 2005 Rough Guide to Sicily said that taxi fare at that time was around 40 euros. It also says you can "take the regional train from the airport's new Departures terminal, a five-minute walk from arrivals, to Stazione Centrale (roughly hourly...1hr journey)."

Hi Ron, I just picked up the Lonely Planet Sicily 2011 book today. FOr tranfers Palermo airport, I quote from book " By bus, Prestia e Comande www.prestiaecomande.it, in Italian; runs half hourly bus service between 5am and 11pm that transfers passengers from the airport to the centre of Palermo, dropping people off outside the Teatro Politeama Garibaldi and the train station. Tickets for the journey, which takes anywhere from 35-50 min. depending on traffic costs Euro 5.80 and are purchased on the bus. " LP book says that this is definitely the best way to travel to Palermo from the airport. By train, the Trinacria Express runs between the airport and the train station. Journey takes 45 min. and costs Euro 5.50; depart from the airport from 5:54 am to 10:05pm. (no website given, Tel: 091-704-40 -07. Hope this is what you are looking for. Ciao,
Sherry
