Palazzo Vecchio tower

I’m not sure how I almost missed this, but it looks like it’s worth climbing the tower at Palazzo Vecchio for the views. Is this correct? I can get a ticket directly from the website, can’t I?

I’m wrapping up my planning for next week. As of right now, I’ve got two days open in case I decide to visit Venice, but depending on my mood, I might just stay in or around Florence. I’m definitely doing day trips to Siena and Lucca and I’ll take a bus up to Fiesole. I’ve got tickets for Accademia, Uffizi and the Duomo, but the rest of my time I think I’ll just wander. In Rome I’m seeing the Vatican and Sistine Chapel and the colosseum and I want to do a trip to Orvieto and see Tivoli, but I think I’ll be museum’d out by then, so again, I think I’ll mostly just wander. This group has been so helpful with my planning (and worrying), and I appreciate all the guidance you’ve given. Any last minute thoughts for me?

The "worth it" question is always subjective. If you are already planning to climb the dome at the duomo, I don't know as you need to do this too but others may feel differently. My own reco for an up-high view is at Piazzale Michelangelo and/or in front of nearby San Miniato al Monte church. The church itself is a gotta-do, IMHO, as it's a very old and important piece of Florentine history. Even better? The view and the church are free for the lookin'!

If you decide that you do want to climb the tower (Torre di Arnolfo) then yes, you can buy a ticket on the website: it's a dropdown under "Choose the type of ticket":

Thanks Kathy. I am planning to see the view from there as well. Isn’t San Miniato where I can hear the Gregorian chants at 6? That’s on my list one evening. I do love a good view…

Yep, that's the one! Glad you've already got it on your list! :O)
