Palazzo Olivia Apartments in Rome?

Has anyone stayed in the Palazzo Olivia Apartment in Rome? If so, how was the experience? I have reservations at the Marriott Grand Flora already, but that's a little high on my budget. Hence would like to know if I can change my reservation to this! :)

We liked PO so much we are staying there again in December. We had the Berta apartment, the smallest, and it was quite fine for us. Very tiny kitchen (I woudl not be able to cook there but adequate for cold snacks, making coffee) and good sized bedroom and living room. For a change we will move to the top floor for our December stay.

Hi Laurel, thank you so much for a quick response. We are going to get to Rome via train. Will be easy to get to the apartment from the station? It might also be late in the evening when we get there. Just wanted to make sure that it will be safe and easier to get to the apartment. Also, was there a washer/dryer in the apartment? What type of utensils did the kitchen have? I will be traveling with kids. Sorry about a lot of questions!! Thanks for your help.

It is about a 13 euro taxi ride from Termini. Be sure you have the address spelled out on a piece of paper for the cabbie. It is a very tiny street and he will most likely have to look it up. You will be dropped off on the corner of Corso Vittorio Emanuele. PO is only a few doors down, on the left. EDIT: It is a very safe area. No worries at all in Rome. It is a perfect location though! Very close to Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. Many reasonable restaurants, a grocery just down the street. I did not take much note of the specific kitchen utensils. There were typical flatware, corkscrew, a not-too-sharp knife (they never are in apartments like this!). Tehre is a microwave, coffee maker, etc. No washer/dryer, but in Campo dei Fiori is a "Lava Secco" where they will do your laundry for you while you tour. We dropped off a suitcase full (about 2 loads) in the morning, and by 6:00PM we had clean, folded clothes ready in the suitcase for us to pick up. 20 euros for the whole service. A bargain since I didn't have to do it and spend the time. Of course you can handwash in the apartment. :-) If you do not arrive by 7:00PM, there is a 30 euro surcharge, and they do not allow arrivals after 9:00PM. This is a smallish place (7 apartments) and run by two people, no 24 hour "desk," so much like a B&B, they cannot be there all the time. They were very accomodating when we arrived early for our stay. As the apartment was vacant they allowed us in at about 09:00.

Ditto everything Laurel said about Palazzo Olivia. We stayed there in Sept 09 (in the Basilio apt) & we loved it. The location can't be beat & the apartment was very clean and comfortable. The apartment has air conditioning, a ceiling fan in the bedroom and an elevator (not all apartment buildings have elevators). The apartment was spacious and I would not hesitate to stay there again in the future.
