I have just been reading about this beautiful Palazzo in the heart of Rome.
I noticed that they are open to the public on Saturdays and have tours. You can also write to them for a private tour as well on other weekdays.
Has anyone ever taken this tour?
I have not taken a “tour” but have visited several times. The point of interest is the large assembly room. Almost (?) over the top in terms of golden bling. While very beautiful, all the bright colors create a much different feel in the room from that of it’s roll as a b & w film star. When you get the chance I strongly recommend a visit.
It is a good un.
Very true - and make sure you go to the Barberini and the Quirinale as well -- all the ancient hills in central Rome have showy palaces worth visiting.
They have a video for an overview of the place.
As OFB said, serious bling
Thanks to you all- I will try to make a reservation closer to our time there, as we will be unable to take a Sat. tour.
The Barberini looks like a good one too for the art works.
Palazzo Colonna is one of the overlooked great sites. It’s restricted availability makes it a challenge to work into an itinerary but well worth doing. Also the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj Is oft overlooked and has one of the best audio tours I’ve ever taken.
I know you didn't ask, but I also think the Barberini is one not to miss, and I think tickets bought there get you into the Corsini as well. And Doria Pamphilij also excellent. Make sure to go have a snack or drink in the charming cafe in the lower level.
