Does anyone know of places where you can purchase the above mentioned items in Rome?
There are street artists all over the place. You can buy directly from them.
Not recent info, but I have a painting bought on Piazza Navona (so long ago that it was paid for with lire)
Piazza Navona is a great place to browse.
There are dozen if not hundreds of galleries in Rome selling full range of art. Just starting walking in. And there are probably even more street art. But don't expect to buy the next Piccasso. Some of the street art will be production art but it can be quite nice. We buy street art and then pay a small fortune to have it framed but are great reminders of our trips.
Conversation with street artist.
“We like those”
“Glad you like my work, some paintings on the street are just photocopies on textured paper. You have to be carefull.”
“Great, we’ll buy it.”
Later.
“You know that watercolour I bought. I just tried it with a wet brush. It’s not watercolour. Well, we were warned.”
Love it.
All kinds of street artists (even the spray paint types). We have never purchased from them because my wife and I always remember that "I Love Lucy" episode where the "artist" has a trunk full of preprinted paintings of Paris. But if you stand there and watch the guy paint it, I'd say that is an original. I agree with others, Navonna is a great spot for street artists.
