Paid Parking in Palermo

We are flying into Palermo (April 2026). We are renting a car. We will be staying in Castellammare del Golfo. We want to explore the Western side of the island, including Palermo. It seems as though we should avoid driving within the city, but will paid parking be readily available in a garage (parcheggio) for us for a day trip?

Yes there numerous garages. Use Google Maps and search "Palermo parking" and it will show a map with clickable icons describing the parking facility. You can get directions directly from that description.
Note that vital items should not left in the car and valuable items should not be visible in the car even if the facility touts video monitoring.

Since you’ll be coming from the west of the city, I’d suggest parking at a train station and taking the frequently running metro into downtown. For example, you could park at S. Lorenzo C. (maybe after checking out the incredible Palazzina Cinese nearby). It’s much less hassle than driving, and the trains are super cheap.

Thanks very much for the responses.
Orlando was the parking garage I was considering using.

But I will look into the train idea, as well. That hadn't occurred to me, but sounds like a good option.
