Paestum - under 18 Free?

Not sure about ages, but get the combo ticket, the museum is excellent. I think it's only a euro or two more than the single ticket.

Only EU citizens.

Sasha's first web link does not agree with the second one. It's not unusual for an Italian web site to be either loosely translated or infrequently updated. The Italian link has text similar to that found on other archeological sites in the area - namely that they've not finally and forever decided that free entry applies to foreigners under 18, but for the time being, the minister of culture has told them to honor it.

All state run museums and sites should be free for anyone under 18.

In State owned museums and sites everybody under 18 enters for free and the italian page of Paestum site says so.
Private, regional and civic museums can do what they want and you must check the specific website.

Strange that they have separate categories for EU-citizens and "extracomunitari" if there is no difference. I thought that language referred to reciprocity, which the US would not have.

But Thisis all good news for the OP.

Until about 3 years ago only EU citizens and other specific countries were given free entry if under 18. About 3 years ago it changed to let everyone under 18 enter for free. Those between 18-26 can get reduced cost entry if they are from the EU with proper identification.
