Paestum and Tenuta Vannulo Farm

We are going to Italy next week, and during our travels, we are visiting Paestum and the Tenuta Vannulo mozzarella farm. We will not have a car. Does anyone know if it's possible to walk from Paestum to the farm? Google tells me it's about a 37-minute walk, but I'm unsure whether that's realistic or whether there's a reasonable way to get there.

No telling what the road conditions are like, even the ring road around Paestum lacks a shoulder or sidewalk, so I would not plan on that. Where are you coming from? That will tell us whether you should use a driver for the whole day or just grab a taxi there and back.
There is a farm where you can eat mozzarella that is near Paestum, but they do not offer the full experience (tour, gift shop) like Tenuta Vannulo does.

We were at Paestum in May 2019 and walked to the mozzarella farm that is nearby- maybe 10 min walk -only to find it closed and abandoned so unless there is another nearby the one mentioned above is no longer an option

ChristineH, did you mean you were there in 2019?

I went to Paestum on the train from the direction of Salerno and ended up hitching a ride to the archaeological area. It was farther from the station than I wanted to walk, and this is when I was a 30-something young adult. IIRC, I was staying in Pompeii and caught the train from there.

Oh haha yes
Fixed

The Paestum site and museum is about a 15 min walk from station
Flat easy walk
We trained from Salerno, might be a different train line/station than from Pompeii?

I also recall the walk from the train station being a very flat ten minutes.
I think Lupata was where we ate: http://www.masserialupata.it/
But again, for a tour I would make the effort to get to Tenuta Vannulo. It should not be difficult to get a taxi.

Thank you all for this great information! I really appreciate it.

Sounds like we should get a taxi to and from Tenuta Vannulo, but walking to our hotel (which is by the temples) from the train station isn't a bad walk.

I welcome any other tips.

So you are staying IN Paestum itself--no need to ask us then--ask your hotel about a driver for the farm visit--they may even have a driver to recommend.
If you just have one bag each, I'd personally walk to the hotel, but if your luggage is more substantial (or the weather is not good), then you may want a taxi to the hotel.
We spent most of an afternoon at the site and in the museum. If you have one full day, then you'll have time for the farm too no problem. How long are you in the area? There are some minor ruins in Ascea and several pleasant towns along the train line south of Paestum.
