Early May, we will arrive Paestum by train at 1:10 pm, with a guided tour beginning at 2 pm. Any suggestions on walking over and checking our luggage at the visitor's center? Could be tight to get a taxi at the train station, drop luggage at our hotel and walk over (about 1/2 mile from the tour meet up point). We have emailed our hotel but no response.
Multiple third party sites claim the main ticket office - Porta Principale - has a coat check for backpacks and luggage but I can't find any official listing from the park.

But under Park > Regulations it says:
Cloakroom Service
No cloakroom service is available. School groups are advised to leave their backpacks on buses.
There's a contact for the park here: https://parchipaestumvelia.cultura.gov.it/en/contacts/
Good luck! Paestum is worth all the effort.

Can you not arrange with the taxi to pick you up and take you to your hotel to drop the luggage?
That's what I would do, no question.
Thank you both for your help! We again tried emailing the hotel in Paestum to inquire about the tight turnaround time in getting a taxi and dropping our luggage there, no response. We then tried the What's App app and they responded right away - there should be taxis waiting for the train to arrive, a phone number for a local cabbie they recommend, and OK to drop our luggage early.
Hopefully will all work out and we won't miss our tour. We decided to spend one night instead of a day trip, I'll bet the evening will be lovely! (We're staying at the Tenuta Duca Marigliano Hotel.)
I agree.. just arrange with a local taxi so he/she will be waiting for you when the train arrives..give them the train and the arrival time.....
She has regular service for the train station and you can even book online; maybe would follow up with a phone call that morning, or the day before to confirm....
