Padua to Venice

I am staying in Padua and would like to make a day trip to Venice. I thought I read somewhere that they make bus trips throughout the day every 30 minutes or so...but I can't find the website in which I saw it. If someone could verify this for me it would put my mind at ease and keep me from thinking I'm nuts! Also if this is true, at what time does the bus lines stop? Thanks in advance! Blessings to you and your travels :)

Is there any particular reason you want to take a bus rather than the train? There are at least four trains/hour between Padua and Venezia Santa Lucia. The fare on regional trains is only €2.90 (more on faster trains). For timetables and fares, go here: www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html.

On my first full day in Venice last May, I took the train to Padua to see the Scrovegni Chapel. As others have said, trains are frequent and cheap. It's only about a half-hour trip if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the info...would I need to reserve these tickets in advance or could I just buy them before the ride?

Just get tix @ the station - one goes to Santa Lucia about every ten minutes all morning.

Jeff, the train is fantastic.. drops you off right in the middle of everything.. You will walk down those famous steps of the train station and look directly at the Grand Canal. An amazing sight! Just remember to validate your ticket..and enjoy the scenery on the way.
