Is this doable? Thanks for the input.
If you want to see most major attractions and actually go inside some of them—the answer is no.
Padua— including the Scrovegni Chapel, the Basilica of St. Anthony. the Raggione Palace, the Prato della Valle, the Caffe Pedrocchi—to name just a few of Padua’s attractions—takes at least an entire day to enjoy.
Verona. which is at least one train-hour from Venice, takes at least another day.
Have to agree - you could spend an hour or two wandering and maybe one major attraction in each of them but that's about all. Both cities deserve at least a day each so if you have one day then I'd say you need to choose one or the other.
Have a great trip,

No not really
Each deserves its own full day-if not more
We spent 3 nites in each
Each deserves its own full day-if not more.
Totally agree. A full day in each will just scratch the surface.
Perhaps an early a.m. train to Verona and spend the day, night, and half of the next day. Then take the train Padua, spend the rest of that day, the night most of the next day there, and then return to Venice late in the p.m. Just food for thought.
Doable but not worth the effort. You won't see enough. Another great nearby town is Vicenza. We spent several nights in Vicenza and day tripped to Padua.
I agree that Padua alone deserves more than a day. Some sights also need advance planning.
I got tickets for Scrovegni Chapel months in advance with limited success (7:00 pm visit booked). I got there a few hours ahead and was lucky enough to buy an earlier time ticket. I read that same day tickets are difficult to obtain.
You can walk right up and enter St. Anthony's Basilica. The tomb and relics are worthwhile experiences.
I liked the slower pace of this town. Great restaurants too. I spent 2 full days there.
We spent 2 nights in Verona and didn’t see everything. I wish we had an extra night. I would not try to see both cities in one day. It would not be a rewarding experience.
Are you sure you've actually seen everything worth seeing in Venice?
