What are some sights in Padua that are must-sees?
And what is a good (charming) hotel?
Thank you!
I can recommend Scrovegni Chapel (reservations required) and the Basilica of Saint Anthony. I wish I could recall the name of a great little hotel with a small and charming restaurant with outdoor seating just half a block to block from the basilica…view of the basilica from room was great.
We stayed in Venice and took the train to Padua (called Padova in Italy), so we did not get to try out a hotel. However, we did have a wonderful lunch in the restaurant of a hotel probably as close to the Basilica as a block or a half block (which might be the one the previous writer was thinking of). I believe it was called Al Sante. You could check out the hotel part on Tripadvisor. But the meal was truly wonderful--the bread, salad, and Padova style pastas, coffees. Better and less expensive than Venice, too!
That’s it…Al Santo! Check it out: http://www.alsanto.it/indexing.htm
