" If you would like to email me private I can go over some more personal stuff. And as for the man who left the first comment on this page. If you do not have anything nice to say or nice helpful advice Please maybe this sight is not for you..just a thought
Pat" In hindsight, I was too blunt, but meant well. Sorry.

Nice of you to apologise, Bob, but am scratching my head, trying to figure out how you "meant well" in the first place. Speaking generally, too often the folks that post on here daily are sarcastic - bordering on belittling and insulting - when, to them anyway, the answers to the questions are obvious or redundant (i.e. multiple threads). You know the old saying - if you can't say anything nice (and on a helpline like this - HELPFUL), don't say anything at all.

" So I realized on my last trip to Europe that I am a horrible packer" What did you learn? That you packed way too much? Apply this knowledge to the next trip.

Hi Jaqueline, We were in the same areas in the fall of 2007. It was very warm right up until Oct 18. We had rain proof jacket with hood, needed it twice. Once in a thunder storm in Venice, once again another storm in Sorrento in early Oct. Storms went by quickly,. We packed a light fleece liner for the evenings and only used it a couple of times in evenings in Tuscany at higher elevations. Wore one pair of capris, 2 pairs of lightweight pants and one skirt, 5 tops, one pair of sandals, one pair of Ecco walking shoes.. Scarves, costume jewellry to change things up. All we needed for 32 days. Did laundry in sink every other day if needed. Only had one carry on bag and one day pack. Very liberating way to travel and easy to decide what to wear when you have limited choices. Hope that this helps.

Hello Jacqueline, I am going to Rome and Sorrento around the same time. I am packing 1 long ( gypsy skirt) which are great for wrinkles, on pair of linen pants, 3 tops, 2 short sleeved one long. I have two tank tops ( for chilly nights) I sweeter, 1 light rain jacket. 6 pair of light panties, 2 bras, 2 socks, pair sandles and pair of walking shoes. I bring a little cloths line, washing liquid sachet, my toiletries, and I pair of real light high heel sandles for my special nights out. I mix match my cloths. Last yr it was cold and I bought a pair of jogging pants. The price was reasonable. oh...bring a bathing suit. Mine had a skirtshape to it and a long top. If you would like to email me private I can go over some more personal stuff. And as for the man who left the first comment on this page. I make a packing list a few weeks out. I keep subtracting and adding. I only list things I can wash and hang up. A few days before the trip, I lay everything out on my bed and make more adjustments. Then I roll up (never fold) what is left and make sure it is a comfortable fit in my carry-on bag. I've done three weeks from Venice to Rome like that. Keep in mind you can buy whatever you need in Italy if need be, but you're going at a great time weather-wise!
