Packing for Venice, Florence, and Rome

We are heading to Italy next week and I am wondering what type of weather we can expect and to pack for. I have a jacket, not to heavy but not a light one either will this be enough? Should I pack sweaters or capris? What area in the US is comparable to Northern Italy. 65-70 in Salt Lake is nice but 65-70 on the coast can be chilly. Thanks for the help,

Check on ilmeteo.it it's the one we use here in Italy and it's always right!
Any way it's getting pretty warm here, but it's probably gonna rain. Bring the jacket you described, but the lighter one too if you have space. I would dress with a T-shirt and a sweater with jeans. That should be ok if the temperature is about 16-20 Celsius.

Hi Heather. I'd wear light layers and take a rain jacket with a hood. If you can wear a polo, blouse or tank top with a sweater over, you'll be fine. (Or a dress with a sweater, for example.) Then the rain jacket when it gets chilly or wet. Capris, pants or skirts all fine. I am a big fan of dark wash trouser jeans, and that's what I wear, or washable black slacks. I am in Washington DC right now, and the daytime temps are high 60s by afternoon, but it's cloudy and there's some rain. I wear a sweater set or blouse over a tank and take along a rain jacket. I'd do the same in Italy. Ciao!

It won't be cold but you are likely to get cool nights and some rain. Capris will be fine, with a light top and add a sweater for cooler days and evenings, plus a rain shell in case it rains. Remember they do enforce dress codes in Italy. I've watched it in Venice and the Vatican. But the rule seems to be the same all over, covered knees and shoulders. You don't have to be dressed up, sandals are fine, just covered.
