Overwhelmed! 5 days with a car from Pisa to explore countryside.

I have 5 days after my trip to Cinque Terre, Lucca and Pisa. My thought was to rent a car in Pisa and explore the countryside. I am thinking by this time in the trip I would like to slow down and experience versus seeing.

I fly out of Pisa so would return the car there. Where should I focus? Options:
1. Volterra/San Gimignano/
2.montepulciano/Pienza/Montalcino

Should I add sienna on to either option? I suspect the night of day 5 I will want to return the car since I will need to be at airport early on day 6.

I think it is difficult to find an area of Tuscany that is not beautiful. What I do is settle on an area, map out the drives to other places I want to visit so they are all within an hour or so apart, then search accommodations. I would either select a place that is within a 45 minute drive of Pisa airport—if you want one base—or stay four nights in one place and then a close to airport place for the last night (I suggested San Miniato in one of your other threads, as it is a convenient last night stop).

Thank you for your thoughts! It looks like going south of sienna will be over a 2 hour drive so maybe not worth it to stay closer to Pisa?
