Overstay in Schengen Area by 2 days in Italy

Hi! I am from the US and have been living in Madrid for 70 days doing an internship. I plan to travel after, but do not have a visa. My plans go through 92 days and I will be leaving from Italy. Are they strict there? What are the chances that something bad happens or are they a little more lenient with just a 2 day overstay?

I'm so nervous!

Thanks.

I would not risk it. I would spend a few days in a non-Schengen country. It's 90 out of the past 180, so leave Spain, spend a few days in England or Croatia (is Croatia still non Schengen?) then back to Schengen, leaving Italy as planned at 92 days - but if 3 of those days were in England then you weren't overstaying. You'd be at 89 days - but count carefully!

Chances are probably pretty good that something bad will happen. Like a hefty fine and getting banned from the Schengen zone for a certain number of years. When you exit, you will be handing them the evidence in the form or your passport, with its entry stamp as well as information which was entered into their database when you arrived.

From you other post, looks like you want to go to Instanbul. That is not in the Schengen zone, so full days spent there will not count against the 90 day rule.

Don't forget arrival and departure days count. So you need 2 full days (3 nights) out of the Schengen to keep your count down to 90.
Have a long weekend in London, plenty of cheap flights from Spain to London.

Do not overstay your visa! Either take a few days elsewhere, or shorten your trip by two days.

Schengen visa enforcement is getting stricter all the time.
