My husband and I are taking the Florence City tour Nov 23. But I want to add a day at Assisi for research. Seeing that the 23rd is a Sunday, I was thinking of arriving a day or two earlier to spend at least one night in Assisi. Will there be hostel/abbey rooms anywhere on those dates? I heard a lot of reasonable hotels and the abbey actually close down after Nov. 15th. Also, what about transportation possibilities during those days? What's best?

We had a car and stayed one night in Assisi. We stayed at Camere Annalisa Martini. It was wonderful. Her mother is delightful but speaks no english. She did our laundry for us while we walked the town. We had a great room with balcony and a view. Lots of cats everywhere. (We love cats) We paid about 35Euros for the night.
