Can anyone help me in choosing a hotel to stay in Venice. We are arriving at night on a Friday and departing Saturday evening on a cruise. We will spend all day on Saturday seeing the sights of Venice. I'm thinking we should stay close to the cruise ship terminal with easy access from the airport since we are arriving at night. I have read that staying near Piazzale Roma is a good option. Any opinions and recommendations for hotels would be appreciated.
