Hotel Berti --right at the Porta San Pietro, it is actually part of the old wall there. Parking and bus right across the street. Basilica of Saint Francis steps away.
It's a small inexpensive hotel but was one of our favorites during our recent trip to Italy. They also have a restaurant just up the street Da Cecco- we had a very nice meal there.

Had a delicious and fun dinner at Trattoria Pallotta, a small family place in the center of town. They also have a small hotel by the same name, I think, but I didn't stay there. Maybe next time. I really loved Assisi, lovely town, with many sites, mostly beautiful churches of varying sizes, both inside the town and outside but nearby. Lots of excellent craft shops. I even visited a museum about Amazonian Indian tribes, presented by a religious order doing social ministry work in the Amazon.
