Will be in Italy in September--Rome, Tuscany, Florence and flying out of Pisa. Looking for an overnight accommodation that has awesome food as well--a real Tuscan experience. Doesn't have to be fancy, just authentic. Thanks in advance!

I had one of the best meals of my life at a winery in Tuscany. This was sometime around 1999, though I don't remember the exact year. It's a winery that was somewhat fancy, but since then has apparently become more fancy and expensive, and they also have lodging now. It's called Banfi (Castello Banfi) and it's in the southern part of Tuscany (south of Montalcino, I think).
It might be fancier than what you are looking for, but since the food was so good, I thought I would mention it. From what the website says, I think they now have 2 different restaurants, one being "fancy" and the other being "ultra fancy". I wouldn't mention it except for the fact that it was sensational.

wow, yes, one of them is Michelin starred! I was salivating when I was looking at the menus....I wanted to eat there, and I am a way picky (complicated Italian food baffles me haha) southern Italian cuisine leaning person!
