Overnight Ferries from Sorrento or Salerno to Palermo?

Greetings! We are signed up for a 2024 "11 Days in Sicily" tour next April and would like to add a few days at the beginning of our trip to see the Amalfi Coast. Does anyone have experience with the overnight ferry from either Sorrento or Salerno to Palermo where we will be meeting our group? We would very much appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

I don't believe there is a ferry from Sorrento, you have the option of Naples or Salerno. I would compare with train and flight.
I would want at least four nights to make this worthwhile.

As far as I know there are no ferries from Sorrento to Sicily. There are from Naples and Salerno though.

I have taken a ferry from Naples to Palermo, I liked it. The ferry left at night about 20:00 and arrived at about 6 in the morning. Taxi's were waiting to transport customers to the train station or where ever. You can book a cabin which had a private bath/shower. There was a restaurant and a bar area. I would do that again. On the way back I took a night train in a first-class cabin, the ferry was the better of the trips as the train was a ruff ride, more like a roller coaster arriving in Rome two hours early. J

The night train to Sicily was most certainly a "never again" experience for me. I haven't taken a ferry to Sicily, but I've done several overnight ferries in Europe and all were much, much more comfortable than trying to sleep on a train.
