We are planning an overnight rail trip while in Europe from Venice to Munich. We have a Eurail Select Pass for 4 travelers. What is the best way to reserve a couchette for four to take care of this now?
Go to www.bahn.com. Put the date in and locate the train, it will be marked CNL (City Night Line).
Put in 4 passengers and click on "Check availablity", next screen you need to enter the age of each passenger, then click "check availability" again. Next screen will show options, click on "4 in 4-person couchette". Now look at the bottom of the page and you will see "Book only extra charges", Click on that. Next page will give three options, choose the last one marked "Pass offer (InterRail, Eurail, other pass offer)". Click "continue booking". Next page you repeat the choice of 4 in a 4-person couchette. Finally click "continue" and you are on the payment page. I'm seeing 176 euro for 4 on a random date in June.
That sounds lovely - I recall an overnight from Munich to Rome once 20 years ago which was very memorable. Didn't get much sleep - very bumpy, very warm, and not a lot of air. But what memories!
Sam, thanks for your guidance. We went online this morning and following your step by step instructions were able to reserve the four-person couchette.
