I will be in Florence in May and read about the Gucci and Prada and other store outlets in the Mall outside of Florence. Has anyone been there and is it truly worth the time? I don't want to be spending precious time rifling through piles of well, junk that is only a "buy" because it is designer. Help. Suzanne
I've never been to those outlets and IMO it's a waste of time since a pair of Gucci shoes were 4000 EUR in Rome (full price).
However just yesterday night I came across this web site about shopping in Florence.
Yup--shop in Florence. Especially if you are more interested in buying things that you like, rather than designer name brands. There are plenty of fun and charming things at the street markets, both by San Lorenzo, which is HUGE, and over by the Mercato near the Ponte Vecchio area. Plus plenty of shops and stores. Coin is a good one if you like JC Pennys' style.
