As we were sitting at the top of a HOHO bus on a sunny day while making the rounds on our last day in Rome, resting our dogs because they were tired, I looked down at the throngs of humanoids around the Colosseum and wondered how many of them would graduate to the exalted status of 'ugly American'.

Ah, thanks for posting link to that previous thread, ORDtraveler. I had looked to see if that had already been done but missed it under the General Europe forum.
I've no idea how he managed to impale himself from his back side, and how he thought he'd get away with it even if he did make it over.
Well, at least he had the opportunity to get his "unforgettable selfie" when he was waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
He can be thankful he did this now and not back in the Colosseum's prime.
The ancient Romans would have left him there as a warning/example of what not to do.
