My wife and I would appreciate recommendations from experience for accommodations in both Ostuni and Otranto. Would like to be within the old town section of each or at least within a short walk to the old town. Also, we will have a car so parking will be a factor.
Until you come across someone with a specific rec, my strategy is to search in Booking.com. You can select for amenities like parking and use the map function. All reviews there are verified.
Would you consider as place outside the old town, so parking will not be difficult?
The old towns of both those cities have been very impacted by tourism and you may to find the ambience you are looking for.....think shops selling "local" ceramics, straw hats, etc etc.... And many of the best restaurants in the Itria Valley are found in the countryside or in smaller towns..
We stayed in a lovely masseria just outside the city of Otranto on one of our first trips to Puglia, about 15 years ago, but it still gets good reviews.

There's a good restaurant not far from Otranto; located within a masseria in Uggiano la Chiesa:
Re: Otranto
I always stay at the Hotel degli Haethey (the Haethey or Hethei were a prehistoric tribe from the Bronze age that inhabited Greece and the Puglia Coast)
Primary reason for choosing that hotel is because I travel there by car (they have parking), secondary reason is that they are next to a wonderful beach and they have a pool and since I always go in July, both are important to me at that time of the year (they also have AC that works well).
It is not inside the historical walled core of the town, but it is only 15-20 min walk from it, so I don't mind the walk after a big dinner of orecchiette and some other Pugliesi specialties.
