Ostia Antica Tour Recommendations

We'll be in Rome beginning of May 2026 and would like to visit the Ostia Antica ruins. Looking for 1/2 day tour recommendations departing from Rome that include train, entry, guide. One option I found is for Get Your Guide Tours. Wondering if anyone has used them for this tour and your thoughts and/ or other tour provider recommendations.

Get your Guide is not a provider of tours. It is a 3rd party that sells other people's tours. I would want to book directly with the folks providing the tour. Seems like a lot of folks booking thru 3rd parties are having their tours cancelled and end up disappointed. Ostia is a very easy day trip from Rome easily reached by public transportation.

This is the official website for Ostia https://anticaostia.it/en/opening-hours-tickets/ It looks like there is a audiotour.

I looked quickly to see if they offer tours. You might use "Contact Us" to see if they have tours or if they can recommend a tour guide that would meet you there.

Ostia Antica is a fabulous choice for a day. There is a small restaurant, unlike Pompeii, there are grassy and shady places.

You can usually drill down in the info on Get Your Guide and find the actual tour company then book directly with them

We went to Ostia Antica in May. It is very easy to do by public transport (and only the price of one 1.50 euro transit ticket). We bought the guide map (I think it was around 4 euro). I felt like I had a guide as the map was very good.
The advantage of going without a guide and with the park map is we chose our locations to visit to avoid the groups and then could go back to visit that particular highlight when the group had moved on. Also had lunch at the restaurant in the park. We spent about 4 hours there.
It was a great day!

You don’t need a tour. As Lony says, it’s very easy to get to on your own. Download the Rick Steves audio for it, get a map when you get there, and you are good to go. One suggestion Rick makes, which is a good one, is to walk all the way to the back of the site, and work your way forward so you end back at the entrance.
