Ostia Antica open or not May 1?

I asked earlier on the RS Forum if Ostia Antica would be open on May 1. I am aware that many of the public museums will be closed for this holiday and thought that Ostia Antica might also be closed. One of the responses I received confirmed it would be closed May 1. Sometime prior to my making the aforementioned post on the Forum I had contacted the Friends of Roman Ostia Foundation (FORO) in Maryland. This is not an organization with a full time staff and I thought it might take some time to get a response.

Well it did. I just recently did receive a lovely response to my inquiry of some time ago, and the representative of FORO said it would be open May 1. Would anyone else care to comment on this?

I think I would trust someone in Rome ahead of someone in Maryland. I am sure they are well intention in Maryland but they could be working with second hand info.

Pre-trip, my go-to place for information like this is the official website of the place itself. However, even that is not guaranteed 100% accurate, especially if you are checking far in advance. So I would most certainly hit the Ostia Antica website shortly before you head to Europe. You could also telephone, though I don't know what the odds are of getting an English speaker.

Not liking to come up against unpleasant last-minute surprises, my general rule of thumb in situations like this is that if the news is bad, I tend to believe it. If the news is good, I seek confirmation.

Not a lot of help, I know.
