Does anyone know if Ostia Antica is open on 26 Dec? If so, anything special I need to know about train schedules on that day? I have the Italy 2009 book but I'm a little worried about holiday closures or schedule changes.

There is nothing listed on any of the sites that says it will be closed on the 26th.
As for transportation, I don't think you'll have a problem with that either. There are a couple trains an hour. Take the metro to the pyramide stop and transfer to the train heading to Ostia Lido. Get off at the Ostia Scavi stop.
