Traveling to Verona and found a fast train from Firenze to Verona, only 1 1/2 hours but need to get from Orvieto to Firenze. I can only find a regional train from Orvieto to Firenze that takes 2 1/2 hours and makes 12 stops. Does anyone know of a faster way to get from Orvieto to Firenze? We would be willing to pay a driver but don't know how to find one.

There are some Regionali Veloci that can get you to Florence in 2h13min. Also there are Intercity trains which will get you to Florence in 1h51m, albeit at the Rifredi station. Since from via dello Steccuto (Rifredi station) to downtown it's at least 15-20 min. by no. 28 bus (or taxi) you might as well take the regional train for less money.
There is no faster way to get to downtown Florence from Orvieto other than a helicopter, because a private driver will not get you there any faster (at most 15 min faster if there is no traffic) and the cost of a private driver would be astronomical (in the order of hundreds of euros).

Also if you are going directly from Orvieto to Verona, the fastest way is with a change at Firenze Campo di Marte or Bologna.
