Finalizing my itinerary for an Italy trip, in mid-April 2026. Tickets bought, hotels arranged. Any advice or experience (good or bad) traveling from Orvieto to Assisi, and then a few days later, from Assisi to Bologna? We will not have a car. Train? Bus? Thanks in advance.

Train
Orvieto station is down the hill from the center- take the bus or funicular down. To Assis- about 2-2.5 hours- change in Terentola-Cortona- Regional train no need to book in advance
Assisi station is also outside the center- take a bus from the station to the top of Assisi.
Assisi to Bologna- regional to change in Perugia- then fast train to Bologna- about 3 hours
