Orvieto Surroundings?

We plan to make a base in Orvieto to start our journey up to Tuscany and Liguria region. Plan to visit Civita di Bagnoregio and Saturnia spa (which i hope won't be too hot in mid June) so far.

What would be recommended nearby Umbria towns which unfortunately most to me a bit far from Orvieto except a few like Todi which takes less than an hour driving? I see Montefalco ripened wineries and it looks so gorgeous but wonder which month would take the winery to look like that

Also what flowery would we see in Umbria during June? I see some pictures of blooming flowers but taken during spring

I love Montefalco, great little town and one of my favorite wineries, Arnaldo Caprai is there. The Sagrantino de Montefalco wine trail passes through there as well. If you are worried about driving times I don't think you have to be. Everything in Umbria is close enough to visit easily by car. It is only 40 miles between Montefalco and Orvieto. Consider Deruta, Assisi, Trevi, Spoleto, and others as a place to visit as well. You mentioned Todi, a delightful place to have lunch and you drive right through on your way to Montefalco. Spring is the best time to see the colors, and you will find poppies just about everywhere.

Enjoy Umbria.
