Question: I start my trip in Rome, but I am completing a biking trip through Tuscany in Orvieto. I will be without transport from that point on. Are the villages above worth staying in? Or should I return to Siena (or Rome?) and take day trips via train from there? Thanks! Melanie

I think day tripping would be frustrating because of the time on trains and missing the opportunity to enjoy smaller towns at night.

That was the conclusion I had come to as well. I have been to Siena and Rome twice before and wouldn't mind spending a couple days in each again. I'm now thinking maybe go back to Rome and then go out to Tivoli to the Villas Adriana and Este the next day. I haves never done that. Has anyone else?
