My family is going to Italy in June and we will be staying for 2 nights in Orvieto. I am debating between Tenuta le Velette and Agriturismo Cioccoleta. I have been in contact with Cioccoleta but cannot get ahold of Tenuta le Velette. I have emailed and am eagerly waiting a reply to see if they have room for us there. Has anyone stayed at either of these 2 places? any suggestions as to which one would be better? Also does anyone know how much it typically costs for 2 rooms (we have 5 of us) at le Velette? If there is a number I could call that works from the US I would love to know!
Tentua's website is www.levelette.it/. It has all contact info. According to the website they don't have rooms but rather two large villas so might not do short-term rentals. They are worth a visit to try the wines - book in advance.
Lindsey,
Just a suggestion but check out Casa Selita B&B. www.casaelita.com Best place we ever stayed at in Italy!!!!
Orvieto is a great place to stay for 2 nights, or a week. It's just about an hour outside Rome and is a relatively large hilltop fortress town. The train station is at the foot of an incline below the city, and there is a Hertz car rental across the street. We turned our rental car in there. There are many good places to stay down by the Autobahn. In April, 2012, we had a really nice room at Villa Acquafredda for a fair price (Phone +39 0763393073). We may have gone thru Hotels.com for the reservation. There are some great sights within a few miles of Orvieto, to the west.
Lindsey, I stayed at Hotel Corso and would certainly recommend it. It's an easy walk from the Funicular and also to the Duomo and other sights. I dined one night at a restaurant near the Hotel, L'Antica Rupe. It was a fantastic meal! Happy travels!
I'll second the Hotel Corso - The location was perfect for 2 nights in Orvieto.
Thanks for the help! I booked a place 5 minutes outside of town at an agriturismo that got some pretty great reviews and was recommended by Rick Steve. Agriturismo Cioccoleta.
