My family of 4, including one member with mobility issues, is arriving via train in Orvieto on New Year's Day. I cannot tell whether the funicular is closed, and we hope to stay in the upper town near the Cathedral. Is there an elevator near the train station or is there a company with which we can arrange transport? Also will any restaurants where we can get a good dinner be open? Any advice pr recommendations will be much appreciated.

The Funicular runs from 8:00 to 20:30 every 15 minutes on New Years day and many restaurants are open that day I was there last year. The 26th annual Umbria Jazz Fest Winter is going that day the last day so it will be very busy. You should make reservations hotels restaurants asap.
