Orvieto luggage check

We took a train from Rome to Orvieto, spent 6-7 hours in Orvieto and then were scheduled to pick up a rental car there to drive north. We arrived in Orvieto at around 10am and the car rental agency allowed us to store our luggage in their office until we came back that afternoon to pick up our car. You might contact the rental agency and ask if they'll store your luggage for you. I don't believe there is a storage facility or lockers at the train station in Orvieto but I'm going off of memory from 4 years ago. It's a small train station. The luggage storage part of it worked out great but unfortunately at the end of the day when we arrived back to pick up our car & luggage, we learned that the agency didn't have a reservation for us & they were out of cars! We ended up having to take the train to Siena & pick up a car there the next day but it all worked out in the end! I learned my lesson and will confirm my reservation directly with the agency next time (rather than the third party company that we made the reservation through). Have a great time.

The Orvieto station does not have a left luggage facility, but there is a small hotel a few steps away that will let you leave your bags for a fee. I'm almost positive the RS Italy book has the information on that hotel, but you could probably just show up and ask at the train station. The hotel is about half a block away.

Upon arrival in Orvieto we went to the Hertz office and took care of the paperwork. They allowed us to keep the car parked in front of their office, so we put our bags in the car and went up to town. They kept an eye on the car for us. They may store your bags in their office if you ask.
