Orvieto in October

My husband and I are planning a day trip from Rome on a Tuesday in late October. We plan to get there on our own instead of part of a bus tour so we can go at our own pace. We are interested in going on a couple of the guided tours out of tourist information office in town; however the information I have seen online indicates their tours only run on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Can anyone confirm their tours do not operate on Tuesdays in October? (Some of the websites look outdated.) And any recommendations if tours are not available? Private tours are beyond our means. Thanks.

Our first time in Orvieto we used Rick Steve's book to see the town. We stayed a few nights. We had no problem sightseeing on our own with the book and some preparation online. Another visit, I had a private tour with an Italian friend that is a tour guide and it was of course wonderful. I am not sure about the availability of guided tours.

We took the underground tour with a very small group, on the spur of the moment, had a slow lunch then walked the streets on our own. Lovely place.

We stayed a couple of nights in Orvieto in October several years ago and we didn't have any problems walking around on our own. It's a small hilltop walled village. The main attraction is the Duomo in the center of town and I recall they had brochures in several languages. I'm sure the Tourism Office will be able to recommend tour groups who operate on a Tuesday once you get there.

Try to get to Orvieto early in the day as daylight savings time will occur in late October so it will get darker sooner.
Have fun!
