I'm back with yet another question. My bf and I decided to redo our Italian itinerary last minute to include a one night stay in Orvieto before heading to Rome. I am obsessed with visiting an Italian vineyard and RS says this is one of the best hilltowns that is accessible by train and known for it's wine culture. We have decided to book at one of RS recommendations, Altarocca Wine Resort, and it's about a 20 minute ride from the Orveito train station. There is public transportation to the resort; however, so of the online reviews revealed it seemed cumbersome to walk and maneuver luggage on the property. We booked a wine tasting there and we want to try to two wineries that RS mentions in his book. We will not have a car, so I was wondering has anyone had experience with using the taxi services in Orvieto. What was the average cost? Is it possible to book taxi services ahead of time. Would like to get that squared away now because we leave in less than 60 days!
