We have two days before returning our car to Rome. We would like to see Orvieto, Civita, and Tivoli. Maybe stay at La Badia for a night. Any other suggestions on what to see or where to sleep. Thanks
Why not spend two nights in Orvieto? You can daytrip to Civita, see Orvieto, then go to Tivoli on your way back to Rome. I don't know about La Badia? Is it near Bologna? That's pretty far away from Orvieto, but it depends on where you are coming from, I suppose.
Sorry, I should have said Hotel La Bada outside Orvieta. We could stay 2 nights there, but it's kind of pricey. How about staying in/near Todi for a night?
I am just not a one-night sort of traveler. Maybe you should just stay in Todi for both nights, if that appeals. Changing hotels means you see hotels, not the places.
Can't offer suggestions on where to sleep and I'm not good with the geography of that area, but I remember visiting this place same day as Orvieto so it must be close: Citia de Bagnoregio. Hope I'm spelling that right. Anyway, it's an awesome, breath-taking place/experience. Just wandering in and out of the little shops and narrows lanes is a real treat, something most who visit Italy probably don't know about. Watch out for the little old lady who begs you to come see her garden and then charges you a euro before you can leave :) Stop by the wine shop and get the small bottles of homemade grapa, lemoncello and that spice wine. Makes great gifts. I highly recommend.
I misspelled the name: It's Civita di Bagnoregio.
