This is a long shot but anyone ever rent a car in Orvieto? Any suggestions? I see there is a hertz near the train station.
Hertz is it, I believe. Easy walk from/to the train station. We rented in Florence, returned to Orvieto.
We rented from Hertz in Orvieto. I was told they are located at the train station, but they are actually a short walk away. We returned the car to the airport in Florence.
We rented a car from Hertz in Orvieto thru Gemut.com. Our pre-ticketed train departure from Roma was cancelled due to a train derailment before Roma Termini station. We had to take the Metro from Termini to Tibertina station and pick up a train there. They honoured our tickets. It was touch and go whether we would reach Orvieto before 1:00pm when they close on Saturdays even though we had allowed more than an hour for our arrival before closing .We just made it as did others behind us in the line-up. The Hertz staff were very courteous and never acted like we were all spoiling their afternoon off.
Our advice would be to travel on the train to any car rental location either Mon. To Fri. Or very early Sat. Morning. If we hadn’t been able to get our prepaid car rental that day we would have had to wait until Monday morning and we had to get to our accommodation in Asissi on Saturday. We brought our own GPS and it really helped us on our journey through Italy for the following 3 week’s. We dropped it off at Lamezia Terme and had to phone the office as it was closed even though it was during open hours. No drop off charges applied.
Hertz is just across the parking lot and across the street from the train station. And it is am very popular pickup/drop off point for cars coming from and going into Rome. The train ride is +0 minutes into Termini.
I turned in a car tnee we arranged thru AutoEurope.
We have rented from Hertz in Orvieto 3 times and once we returned a car there from the Florence airport location.
thanks for your help!
