Hi. I am trying to figure out how best to get our party of 5 from Sorrento to Orvieto and where to find a car rental.
1) My original thought was to take train from Sorrento to Orvieto and then rent a car for the 4 days we are up there to visit the hill towns, etc. and then drive car to Rome FCO and dropping it there since we will be spending last night near airport.
Cannot seem to find many car rentals in Orvieto, is it just Hertz that is located there? When I put Orvieto in the different car rental sites it does not come up with anything.
2) Another choice would be to drive from Naples all the way to Orvieto, but I really don't prefer that.
3) Third choice would be train to Rome FCO, then rent car there, drive it up to Orvieto and then return to FCO. Is that an easy drive as long as we don't try driving in city of Rome itself?

Train from Naples to Orvieto will save you time, and if you take the 10:31 Intercity train it will save $$$. Hertz is the only rental company available.
Another option would be Naples to Roma Tiburtina, easy access to the A1. Have used Europcar from that location.
However, it won't save you time. Then return at FCO.
