Orvieto as a stop from Florence to Naples

As part of our month in Italy in September, we are planning to travel from Florence to Sorrento by train. This is our first Italy trip with days: Venice-5, Tuscany-7, Florence-4, Sorrent0-5, Rome-5. Originally we wanted to see Orvieto as a day trip from Rome and seeing Pompeii on the way to Sorrento but thought it might be possible to stop at Orvieto on the way to Naples/Sorrento. We would then see Pompeii from Sorrento at a later date if we stopped in Orvieto. We can be in Naples at 10:55 if we went directly from Florence at 8:05, allowing time to visit Pompeii on the way to Sorrento. Is it possible to see Orvieto on our way to Naples/Sorrento? I don't see a good way to get to Orvieto from Florence by train and get to Naples. Would you recommend we keep our original plan to see Pompeii on our trip to Sorrento and then see Orvieto from Rome? Thanks for your help.

You can leave Orvieto shortly before 9am and be in Napoli Centrale at around 11am, with one change at Roma Termini. If you are checking the trenitalia.com site for dates after June 8, schedules may not be posted yet. A typic fare right now is about €27, 2nd class, fast train.
