Orvieto Accomodations

Has anyone recently stayed at the Hotel Duomo in Orvieto? Were you happy with your stay and is it worth the extra cost to get a junior suite that has a view of the Duomo

We have stayed there many times over the years and love it. Yes, it is more expensive but the rooms are very nice, some have balconies, some have views of the Duomo and some balconies face on to gardens in back. The staff is very helpful, quiet and unobtrusive. We were there last year. Go see the caves while you are there. There is a guided tour available thru the TI.

We stayed at the Hotel Duomo in Feb. 2008 for 3 nights. It was wonderful. We had a corner(regular) room that was very nice. Out our window we could see the top of the Duomo. The hotel is a perfect location and the staff was great. We are returning to Italy in a few weeks but Orvieto is not one of our stops. My husband is trying to figure out a way that we can get there. While you're there have dinner at La Polamba. We loved it so much we ate there twice. Enjoy!

We were in Orvieto last summer and stayed at a lovely place just outside of the town of Orvieto, Villa Ciconia.. it has lovely grounds, pool and a restuarant on site where you can have dinner, breakfast .
They called a cab for us which took us right into the town for a fun day of exploring and shopping.
