We might be heading to Ortisei in the Dolomites this June.
We would be taking the train from Florence. I know the train
does not go to Ortisei. What would be my best stop to transfer
to a bus and where to find the schedule for the bus. Thanks
for any assistance,

Change from train to bus in Bolzano. Bus timetables at www.sad.it
Please note that most trains - and all the direct trains Florence to Bolzano without change - leave from Firenze Campo di Marte station, not from SMN station.

A few runs depart all the way from Bolzano (Bozen), but even those stop at Ponte Gardena station.
