Ortisei dining

Ortisei is a ski town in winter so the restaurants primarily have indoor dining. There was a restaurant by the bus depot in the heart of Ortisei that had some tables set up outside in the evening and another restaurant at the top of the pedestrian zone near the TI office that had some outdoor seating. Don't recall the names though.

Highly recommend the walk to 1.3-mile walk to Cafe Restaurant Val d'Anna. I quote from the book "Walking in Italy's Val Gardena" by Laurel and Ric Barton (she posts on this forum): "This amazing place has a playground for children (out of sight, below the lawn on the right), sun chairs for relaxing, and umbrella shaded tables for taking refreshment. People come here and spend hours!"

I've walked there twice (once in the rain) and just love the walk and the Restaurant. It's huge.

Thanks for the shout-out, Janet! Val d’Anna is delightful for lunch or aperitivo. Not open for dinner, just FYI.

Outdoor at https://da-checco.it/ Da Checco is lovely with some patio dining. Reservations accepted through messaging on their website, at least a day in advance. Worth doing because August is very busy.

Veda Mulin https://www.vedlmulin.com/en/ is the one John is referencing, I think, on the mail piazza. We like their pizza.

We have not been to Sotriffer https://www.restaurant-sotriffer.com/ in awhile, but it was very good and I see reviews are still strong. You must reserve and ask for a table outdoors. I think we must return there during our October visit.

For lunch while in the trail or taking lifts every rifugio I can think of has outdoor seating.

Thanks for the correction, Laurel. I'll then suggest Cascade Restaurant. I had a lovely dinner there on my last trip and they had outside tables.
