We are looking to go back to Ortisei the beginning of June 2026. We are wondering if the lifts are open to do some hiking at the beginning of June? We went last year at the beginning of September and everything was open but wanted to try some hiking in the spring next year. Also, any information or thoughts on a nice hotel that offers half board?
Thank you!
Early June might be too early for some lifts. You can check the operating hours here: https://www.valgardena.it/en/summer-holidays-dolomites/lifts/
We stayed in Santa Cristina and had the best pizza and steak ever at La Tambra. We stayed in an apartment over the restaurant. Not sure if they offer half board, but breakfast was included with the room.
If you can go a little later in June, more lifts would be open. We were there this past June 19-24 and it was perfect.
The lift situation is variable depending on what type of winter they have. We were there in 2019, June 5-10, and the Seceda lift wasn't opening until June 15. This year it opened May 31. But there were plenty of open lifts/trails to keep us busy for five days.
I'm sure other posters will highly recommend Hotel Grones in Ortisei. I haven't stayed there myself.
Hotel Grones (family run) half board is excellent.
Thank you to all of your suggestions! We are thinking of changing our plans to beginning of September again to be safe. Hotel Grones is on the top of our list because of the suggestions on this forum! This forum is so helpful and so appreciate the travel tips!
We are going to Ortisei mid June and booked Hotel Grones for a week, (thanks forum for the help!). And we booked 1/2 board, we think that after hiking all day we will come back to the hotel, take advantage of the pools and spa and then won't have to go out to find a restaurant.
If anyone wants to know what lifts were open, etc, PM me after the summer.
And in the meantime, if anyone has any special hikes they liked, please PM, We will have a car so can leave the Ortisei area easily.
