Ortisei and hiking Dolomites in September

I'm planning a two-week hiking trip to Val de Gardena area, staying in Selva and Ortisei. Won't have a car, so using bus along the valley. Can you please send links from previous posts for this area/subject? Is mid-September too late to hike? Any memorable meals at mountain huts that are not-to-miss? Thank you! Greatly appreciate your advice!

Mid September is a great time to be in Val Gardena. The lifts are running, the crowds are thinning down and the weather is ideal. The hiking will be memorable. The busses and lifts provide great access....your feet do the rest.

"So many rifugios so little time" Strudel and cafe or wine and cheese are my go to. The Demetz hut is perched in an amazing notch. Brad

To do that, I would enter search terms in the big “Search” box above so you can happily search in any relevant terms like “Val Gardena Hiking” or “Ortisei Hiking.” You can refine your search for newer posts in the Travel Forum by selecting, for example, “1 year and newer.”

If you plan to hike on Alpe di Siusi, definitely visit Malga Schgaguler Schwaige: https://throneandvine.com/malga-schgaguler-schwaige/. One my favorite places to eat farm-to-table fare in the region. Plus, the views of the Sassolungo massif from their terrace is breathtaking! Another wonderful place to eat on the alp is Gostner Schwaige.
