Orte vicinity places to go

When I planned this trip I took 3 nights in Orte because it was a small non tourist Italian town. I think I overdid it. 2 nights would have been better. I am at a b&b whose owner is lovely but speaks limited English and tourist info. Speaks no English. I have mastered a little Italian which helped tremendously today. I do have google translate to fall back on. Careful what you wish for. I have had no luck finding a private English speaking tour guide last minute with only Monday available. One English speaking guy in town (possibly the only one and no I Have not lost my sense of humor) mentioned Bomareo in Viterbo and Parco dei Moatin Sacro Bosco. I could take a day trip by train or bus or taxi. My good luck is San Sebastiano in festa began today and goes all weekend. Fun to watch and people are friendly and go out of their way to help. As always appreciate your advice.

Maybe see if you can find a guide in Orvieto? I think you've been there but not to find a guide for around the region.

Orte is sort of off the tourist grid so I guess I'm not surprised that you're not finding much for tours.

If you can find a driver go out to Carsulae, a Roman ruin that very few ever visit or see. It is up by San Gemini. it will likely be your own private ruin if you go. Stop at Ristirante Il Torchio in San Gemini for lunch or dinner.

Calcata is amazing! Many small towns in the area. Etruscan ruins, old Roman roads and necropolis also. My family lives nearby so we are always finding new things to see.

You may not see it this way now, but you really are in an area with plenty to see in the vicinities - Viterbo is just a 40ish minutes away from Orte by train, and also near you are Tarquinia and its Etruskan ruins, Lake Bolsena, Civita di Bagnoregio, Villa Lante in Bagnaia... You could even plan daytrips to Città della Pieve, Sarteano, Lake Bracciano or Lake Trasimeno! It's really a strategic location, even if - again - it might seem secluded and with nothing to do :)
