I am making plane reservations for the Sept. Village Italy tour. All flights departing Milan are in the morning. I don't know whether to plan one extra day at the end of the tour or if I can get from Orta San Giulio in the morning to Milan in time for a late morning departure. Has anyone had this experience?
Near the end of the tour, the tour guide will usually help with coordinating who needs to get to the airport so folks can share rides. I went on this tour-you will love it by the way-in April 2008. I shared a van with others to the Milan airport and was able to leave late a.m. However, Lake Orta is so lovely, I wish now that I had stayed an extra day to enjoy it.
Laurie, So it is possible to leave Lake Orta the last morning of the tour and make connections in Milan the same morning? How long a ride was it in the Van?
I seem to recall we had an early breakfast and the van ride was about an hour. I do remember I had plenty of time to check in and waited about an hour for the flight to take off. I think my flight was to Amsterdam around 11 am.
Thanks for the info. That was Malpensa airport wasn't it?
We also took this tour and loved it. We had an early morning flight.
We spent an extra night at the tour hotel to relax and then next day went to an airport (Malpensa) hotel for 1 more night.
We ended up taking a taxi from Lake Orta to a Malpensa hotel. The guide (Lisa, who was great)
hooked many of the others up with a van the morning that the tour ended. So our going away breakfast was a much smaller group because everyone had different (and some very early) departure times. The van group had a less expensive trip to Malpensa than we did but when we left for home we were pretty rested so that helped to readjust to our home time zone.
You're going to love Village Italy, our favorite so far!!
Have a Great trip!!
