Ordering train tickets on trenitalia

We are making a trek to Italy this fall and I have been reading the forum for months and studying ordering train tickets and have checked and rechecked the dates and times that we need tickets and I have four legs of the journey that I was hoping to take advantage of purchasing the tickets early. I am using the trenitalia website. I am having trouble buying the tickets. I time out before I can even get to the end of the second leg of the journey. Is there any advantage to ordering them all at one time or should I just do each separate leg of the train trips as a separate purchase? Seems silly to have to do it that way. Any suggestions?

No. I always buy tickets one leg at a time. Each one a separate transaction.

Just be sure you understand. If you are buying a ticket from A to D, that is what you enter and buy. You don't buy A to B, B to C, and C to D. If you have four trips over different days, then buy each trip individually.

For ticket purchases in Italy, you can also use www.capitainetrain.com as they sell both Trenitalia and Italo tickets.

If any segments of your journeys will be via Regionale trains, the easiest solution is to just buy those in Italy either from a Kiosk or staffed ticket office. DON'T forget to validate Regionale tickets purchased locally, or you'll risk hefty fines which will be collected on the spot!

In order to provide more specific suggestions, it would help to know which rail journeys you'll be taking.
